Luxury Leather Dog accessories, small breed dog accessories, collar, dog beds, harness, poop bags

How To Keep Your Leather Accessories in Tip-Top Condition:

You’ve bought a quality leather accessory that is gleaming with style, for your equally stylish pooch. It looks amazing as you go for your walk and It feels even nicer in your hand.

“You only get that feeling and look because it's new, right?"

This is completely untrue! We have chosen the best quality leather for all our products, meaning that it naturally ages well, however, it is important to look after your leather accessories. Outside dirt and oils naturally occurring in your dogs skin can build up on the collar and harnesses, even though our padding offers some protection. If this is left, it can damage the leather and will begin to look worn and old.

This is easily preventable, by cleaning the leather accessories, to keep that squeaky clean, fresh out the box look. At www.long-and-short.com we specialise In high-end quality leather products, and experience has taught us how to keep our products looking all shiny and new.

Drying A Wet Collar

If your pooch loves to splash about or at any opportunity jump into water or it has rained while you’ve been out, you will need to get the leather dry:

  • remove it as soon as you get home, and lay it down on a towel or  alternatively hang it out but off radiators or direct sunlight (direct heat can damage the leather and distort and warp its shape) until it’s dry.

Squeaky Clean Tips

you can clean most stains, with a cloth and water. However If there is a particularly stubborn stain there are leather cleaners on the market that can add further weather and dirt resistance to your accessory.

Here's a few tips.

Frequency:

  • Clean your dog leads, poop bag holders, Treat Bags and any other leather products that have less contact every 3-6 months.
  • Clean your dog collars and harnesses once a month to get rid of any dirt or your dog's skin oil  that may have built up in the collar or harness.
